The author correctly suggests that such reengineering efforts need to be more than just the reconciliation of economic, efficiency and environmental concerns. What is also clear is that IT departments are facing similar challenges (on a smaller scale) to those of the enterprises to which they belong. And the answer may also be the same; when in doubt go back to the customers’ most basic needs.
